Usually it is said that ultimate Bodhichitta equals realization of emptiness. However, if this were true, it would mean that also a Hinayana Arya or Arhat would have ultimate Bodhichitta? So what exactly is ultimate Bodhichitta?

The ultimate Bodhicitta is the bodhisattva wisdom cognizing emptiness. The cultivation of conventional Bodhicitta is requisite for the attainment of ultimate Bodhicitta. Thus, an Hinayana practitioner can't realize ultimate Bodhicitta, not cultivating conventional one...

Until then may I too abide, To dispel the misery of the world." (Arya Shantideva)
