Hello to all,
I have a question about Maitreya. I found a web site from the reincarnation of Buddha Maitreya. It is very strange as on one part he says he is the reincarnation of this Bouddha, and on the other side there is a lot of very strange stuff with pyramids of crystal, energetic stuff, etc... Very expensive and commercial.
But there are also testimonials and letters of recognition from Tibet? So he is really a Tulku recognized in many monasteries?
Thank you for your answers,
Nenuflar

Indeed, this web site create lot of confusions.
If you look well at it, you can see that it is a plain fraud. The content is the clear self-promotion to satisfy the huge ego of this man.
Through money, he organised lot of visit of Lamas from different monasteries, and brought them in situation to be taken in photo with him, or even holding his energetic stuff (some costing 1200 or even over 2000$!); I guess they don't know what usage is done of those photos.
There are crasy people all over the world. But I do feel concern here by this situation because he is using the name of Kharnang monastery, the previous monastery of Lama Shenphen Rinpoche!
I found out that he gave lot of money to Kharnang monastery to rebuild the Maitreya statue. That is why he got connected with Kharnang. It doesn't imply he is recognised.
Two links to read, which explain a lot! :

Hello,
Thank you for your answer, but what about the recognitions letters and the picture in the recognition page. Is it possible to go in a monastery and make this kind of picture, or ask this type of letters like this?
And he has also a lot of pictures of Tibetan monks coming to perform ritual at his places in Europe.
All in all it looks real. How to differenciate real from hoax?

This is creating probably the most confusion. But it seems the monks and Lamas involved didn't know the goal behind. They acted as in a "movie making". Pictures and letters might have been really made by monks and even in monasteries with Lamas, but they didn't know what for it was. Again, I would suspect all this to be made under the excuse of a movie, following a scenario made by Ron Spencer, to be used later as it was real.

Unfortunatly, it can be difficult at a first glance, for people discovering the whole thing. But when you are in Dharma since many years, you even can read the incoherence in the pictures themselves; not to say in the text!
In the same way, for Tibetans, it might have been difficult to see, behind the dollars they wish to gain for they monastery, the true intention of that man.
So, I guess one has to be very careful before to give trust to someone praising himself so much, with such great insistance!

I looked again on the web site, and there's a lot of new stuff. Now it looks very fake.
Specially there is some pictures to prove or illustrate his enthronment in Tibet, and also a Video. This is just so ridiculous, it's for people who know nothing about Buddhism.
The Video is a ceremony of Lama Chöpa, we can hear the tune and verses of the "song to move the Dakini's heart", with the very recognizable "ALaLa LaLaHo AIAAh ARaLiHo" tune. He just sitting on a sit that is for patrons (i.e. people giving lots of money that the monastery wants to please alot to get more ;-) ). And we see a Tibetan Lama doing the puja, and he is just sitting there as spectator.
At the same time they put their subtitles, like he gets the monastery offered.
The supposed enthronment pictures are as ridiculous. It's even written Tengchu. I'm some sort of Newbie, but even me i know that Tengchu is a long life Puja. Nothing linked with enthronment. You can see it by the cake on the side, very typical. Also given to people you want to please to get more money.
Does anybody buy this crap??!! It's a big hoax, not even made well enough so that it doesn't look ridiculous.

Hi,
When I read this - and see what I saw on the web site of this man - I feel like to react...
This site is a rather clever mixing up of so many things. True stories and information about Buddhism, and complete made up events, obvioulsy for the sake of the promotion of this guy who pretends to be a living Buddha. Gosh! This man as no shame!
I read that: "Tulku Buddha Maitreya Rinpoche (Ronald Lloyd Spencer), an American man born in 1951, declares that he is Buddha Maitreya emanation. His incarnation lineage begins from Buddha Shakyamuni (Gautama Buddha)/Jesus Christ/Buddha Maitreya, Guru Padmasambhava, Jowo Atisha and Je Tsongkhapa. And of course, like any other Buddhist-Christian cults, he said that this is the reappearance of Christ, the Buddha.
His centre is a Soul Therapy Centre. Its centre's literature also states that "He is the Avatar Archangel Michael/Metatron who is the Lord of Shambhala Sanat Kumara and is also known as Melchizedeck the Ancient of Days."
"And his name and title are changed time to time: Archangel Michael, Tulku Karma Sonam Phuntsok Rinpoche, Babaji, Tulku Je Tsong Khapa Gyalwa Rinpoche, Lama Dorje Buddha Maitreya Jesus Archangel Michael and last but not the least the American Buddha.
This man as really no shame...
It surely confuses many people, and, indeed, some people might buy this.
What I find completely wrong - among other things - is that this man ordains monks and nuns, but he is himself not ordained! This is in complete contradiction with the Vinaya!
What is sad surely, is to see Tibetans "bought" to this lost cause. What they see is the money. Indeed, if the sums on his web site are true, this man is giving lot of money to those monasteries! No wonder why they are able to support such thing.
But... Is Dharma for sale?! Is it a skilfull mean to give credit to such man - who on other side dishonor Dharma and transgress Vinaya - for the sake of thousands of dollars? What is the long term result of such behavior?
Some Tibetans do not seems to remember the wounds of the history, and continue to engage in short time politics... Sad...
Yes, Nenuflar and Gendun, when we analyze a bit the pictures, we can see that it's all a sad joke. And in the case of the monastery you mentioned, this man is not sitting at the Lama's place, but on the side. They are doing a long life puja for a special patron/guest, not at all any kind of enthronement, as it's writen.
I didn't quite checked all the site yet, but I suspect there are lot of contradictions of this kind...
Wow, amazing. Where is our world going?! Indeed, we are in degenerating time, and false prophets are growing as mushrooms. But if those who were supposed to hold the Tradition of the Buddha are selling in for few thousands of dollars, it's the true beginning of the end

Dear Alan,
'it's the true beginning of the end'
is it really all that bad? I mean, it IS indeed sad, painful and at least awful all that you are talking about pointing out. But there could be another side of Dharma too, couldn't it? That there are places and people where it's spreading and growing purely. Which can counterbalance the other. I somewhere somewhen heard at the Teachings that future can be changed too. If we wish so. I would like to believe it.
All the very best,
Pamo

Tashi Delek!
I'm no expert here but I'll tell you what I'll do. Whether he is or he isnt't (I think he isn't) a Buddha, I shall follow the traditional Vajrayana buddhism and learn from it. All new reforms and new thinkin lead to sects.. If you look at buddhism - it stayed alive just because it's humble and the teachings are respected. Does killing or getting money in weird and non truthfull way practises the dharma path? I do not know (let this be answered by Rinpoche
)...
Second thing is - what would happen if all of a sudden there were 1000 Buddhas arround the world each leading his own spiritual path? This smells very much of ignorance and greed...
The third and final thing, is that today in clases Rimpoche perfectly well said that even Dalai Lama himself doesn't act as a supreme being. Does not this tell you something. Buddhism is not about the money, it's much more complex than just simply deeds like stealing or cheating...
We all must have faith in our teachers which are comfirmed by the buddhist path and are following texts and traditions from ancient times
Best regards
Uroš
