  1. Tashi Delek to all, As said Rinpoche once, it is better to experience negative karmas during the dream than awakened state as it is less painful! So you can see the good side of the nightmares or unpleasant dreams... We just have to remember that whatever the state, phenomena and persons are empty of true existence, just an effect of previous causes. They have no "real" identity, are mere "creations" and illusions of the ignorant mind. Negative emotions, mental perturbations are like the waves on the ocean of the mind: arising when karmic winds are blowing. They disappear as soon they arised. pfffttt! ...and other ones take their place, and so on in the samsara... Indeed we are afraid of inexistant ideas or images as long as we cling to the reality of our perceptions. Best regards Ani Chönyi
  2. Tashi Delek everybody , This kind od mental state looks more like the opposite of awareness, a kind or "blackout", uncounscious state as we experiment before falling to sleep or at the end of the death process. There is no light into it, its heavy, sticky...It is the nature of the ignorance. Even if we are not aware of them, the mental factors are always here, int this case, in a "latent" way, like seeds which will "pop up" when the right conditions will be there. They are sleeping in a way but they didn't disappear. Ani Chönyi
  3. Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche says in " The treasure of the heart of enlightened beings" (Patrul' Rinpoche's commentary), that the true begining of the samsara is the ignorance of the emptiness of the mind". Erratic thoughts (without any control) create the cycle of existences. Out of any analysis, they keep their illusory reality, perpetuating the samsara with more and more strength. This emptiness with its inherent compassion is recognized when the consciousness free from the influence of the thoughts, awakes at the clear consciousnesss ot the present moment. Patrul Rinpoche said that is the "error clinging to the reality of the mental perceptions". We must develop mental quietness and analytical meditation on the true nature of existence. Both are necessary to perform the liberation of the mind from ignorance and its effect the cycle of conditionned non-wished rebirths pervaded by suffering. Ani Chönyi
  4. Hello Frederic, As you explainet it , we don'nt have much information on pre-samsaric life... it is so far away, we lost memory of it!... For the few I know, His Holiness wrote that because the "consciousness" had thoughts, it believed there was another entity (thinking). It could not recognize its own mere mental projections. For this reason, it created a "gap" and the belief in a" and a you", 2 separated entities, exterior and interior. All the dualistic way of thinking is based on an error, an illusion, on something which does not exist. It seems we have 2 consciousnesses: one ordinary, limitated because not knowing its true nature, and the primordial one which has been always here, like the sky behind the clouds. Kalu Rinpoche explained that before being humans, we were gods who could fly in the space, have no need of light (their body was luminous), nor gross food (they drunk some nectar) and lived very long periods of time. Some day, the gods begun to go down on earth and liked to stay here till coming back to god realm for some nectar. Then by laziness, they begun to think they were tired to travel, and stayed longer on earth: but they had to eat. Taking gross ailments such as "earth" to start...so their bodies transformed in gross body etc....and the wheel turned. best regards Ani Chönyi
  7. Tashi Delek Frederic, There is complete death when the essential drops - the white one from the wheel of the head and the red one fron below the navel- meet at the heart chakra, enclosing the consciousness. There is a short moment of losing consciousness. As soon as the central channel has dissolved, the consciousness leaves the body or by the place of the heart wheel, or from the head or the feet or some other ones, depending if the corpse has been touched in some place and depending of the karma of the person. It is said that the place where the continuum of the mind leaves implies next rebirth. Experiences of death are different, because karmas are different. Best Regards Ani Cheunyi
  11. Tashi Delek everybody, it is a question with several answers, as often! the objects can be classified from different ways. for example physical phenomena perceived by physical senses are linked to one of the 5 gross consciousnesses. A mental object (image, dream) is perceived by the mental consciousness (6 th sense more subtle). In both case, the object can be existant or non-existant. Existant means recognized by the majority of people, like white snow mountain (or the horns of a bull) Somebody who says he saw a blue snow mountain (or a hare with 2 horns) has some problems; maybe he needs spectacles (the organ sense is deficient) or maybe he has hallucination (he is tired, drug addicted or dreaming...) because this object is not existant at all! In the case where somebody "sees" spirits, it does not means they are not existing.Tthere are very subtle objects from ordinary mind cannot be aware. Anyway they have an existence only perceived by some sentient beings ( Buddhas, Aryas, yogis or somebody who can be clairvoyant specially by developping calm abiding in past or present lifes). Nevertheless we must not forget that any impermanent phenomena has non- intrinsic existence. They are temporary, arising with the meeting of causes and conditions. Best regards Ani Chönyi
  12. Tashi delek everybody, It is not completely true that law of cause and effect cannot be proven... If we look around us we can see a lot of examples which prove that life does'nt occur at random! There are physical, mathematical, logical rules in evey field. Everything in the world proceeds from previous causes or factors: planets, elements, nature, seasons, sciences, crops, animals, life, planes, cars, boats cooking, walking, speaking, swimming, even thinking or whatever need... different conditions to be gathered to come to existence. If random would exist a grain of rice would emerge from cocoa , another one from pumpkin or tomatoe- at least without DNA manipulation, which follows anyway a logical process- parsley would grow on tar, it would be night in day time......... It would be a total and unbelievable state of confusion and panic at every moment because we would never anticipate or plan anything not knowing what's coming next! Or we can imagine the effects of the weather for 5 days or more, we can plan to build everything with the right constituants. to go on the moon... We can see that any entity lies on different aggregates or gathered parts but not like that popping from nowhere! We can open our eyes (and our mind ) and check by ourselves the consequences of heat, coldness, rain, ice, noise, food, hunger, anger, drugs, illness but also good heart, generosity, patience, joy, concentration, wisdom. Life is adapted to its environment: a fish cannot breath in the air, a bird cannot live in water, man need specific elements to breath; each organ has a function: we don't walk with our liver and don't think with our legs, are we? There is no single result without a cause. Besides reincarnation was proved by Stevenson who studied hundred of cases without any doubts possible. Even catholic religion accepted it till 6th century... Best regards Ani Chönyi
Amicalement Ani Cheunyi
  14. Hello everybody, Of course, as all realms of the samsara are pervaded by sufferings from all kinds. But, in the realm of desire, ours , sufferings are more less painful and pleasures more less enjoyable than others, in a middle way... For example the agony in hell realm or the satisfaction in god realms are very long and unbelievable! In the bardo after death, as things occur very fast - here too the notion of time changes- the sensations are passing almost instantaneously to one another and that is very perturbating and confusing for the mind which is not prepared to experiment up and down events. It is like to be twirled around without knowing how to put an end to get peace. "If at the time of death, or later in one bardo, we can have at this moment a single sincere virtuous thought we can get a good rebirth", said a master. But it is easier to have one if our mind is used to! If we want to be free from suffering, we have to train to act in a positive way during our life, because all we experiment in all bardos is consequences of passed acts, speeches and thoughts. Positive mind and actions will lead us to good rebirths, and best of all accumulating merits will connect us with Buddha-Dharma and the possibility to get enlightened for our sake and the others. Kind Regards Ani Cheunyi
  15. Tashi delek, I read something recently about this topic in a book of His Holiness answering to scientist people on the subject of mind, dreams and death.d He said that this kind of experience depends rather of the "ream state" than ofthe processus of dying. Indeed if the deceased sentient being sees relatives, he is yet in the "bardo state" and cannot come back alive, because his mental continuum left definitely the body. If the person during its life has developped a peaceful life (religious or not) with good deeds, she will die peacefully. Even if she is frightened, it will be bearable, because of her merits, her mind will not suffer long neither hard and will experiment happy state of mind A person dying suddenly in tragic circunstances, will feel lost and confused because she had no time to realize she was dying. She A sentient being having committed many or strong negative actions will experiment a lot of suffering during the bardo stages. But these are general cases and everything is possible, depending of the background of karmic imprints and of their strength. For example the consciousness can feel remorse; some prayers or a bodhisattva can help ... We have to train in order to get accustomed with the dying process as long we are alive, because at the moment of death it is very diffficult to change a negative and fearful mood into its opposite! This very important passage can save us from woe and unchosen future lives... Best Regards Ani Cheunyi
