Shenpen.Rinpoche 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2009 A mantra can usually be recited only if it has been transmitted to you, by someone who has an unbroken lineage of transmission and has the Empowerment of the Buddha or the practice connected to that mantra. If you wish to recite this mantra, you should ask your Lama. If you don't have a Lama, and have not taken Refuge, may be this mantra is not yet for your practice. By the way, the right writing of this mantra is: Namah Sarwa Tathagatha Hridaya Anuh Gatey Om Kurum Ghini Svaha For purification, I would also advise the Mantra of Vajrasattva (Dorje Sempa), which has 100 syllables. Or the practice of prostrations to 35 Buddhas. But the first step, if you have faith in the Buddha and His Teachings (the Dharma), you should consider taking Refuge. If you don't have faith in this Path, then this mantra is again not for you. All the very best.
