urki 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2005 Sure, sorry about that. It says that there are 3 ways: Theravada, the small barrel Mahayana, the great barrel Vajrayana, also called magic, mystic buddhism. Hope i made it clearer Best regards Uroš
Jigme 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 Sveto in Svet from 13.10.04 opens with the following statement: According to the Cambridge Data Book from 1996 is Buddhism, as one of the three World religions, devided in these branches: Hinayana – Small vehicle or Southern Buddhism Mahayana – Large vehicle or Northern Buddhism Vajrayana – In some places called Magic Buddhism Therevada – Buddhism from Southeast Asia Maybe Uros was clear enough, but it is always better to be precise. Guest lodreu Report post Posted March 4, 2005 Tashi Delek, It seems that in that case the term "magic" is coming from a wrong translation or interpretation. In Tibetan the Vajrayana is not translated as "magic", even in the word Sang Ngag which means secret word, or secret mantra, there is not this "magic" meaning that some misconception can bring. Specially in the western way, where Tantra is not regarded as a discipline of the mind, a way of practice with all what it includes, but as something which should bring quick realizations without paying the effort for it ;-) Something magical in a deviated way. Best wishes, Lodreu.
Pamo 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Tashi Delek, regardng the visualisation in Short Mandala Offering, apart from the Sun, the Moon, the mount Meru and four continents, can it vary each time one does it, or it has to be on and on repeated exactly the same as the first one once it has been created? Thank you, all the very best, Pamo
Guest lodreu Report post Posted March 21, 2005 Tashi Delek, The basis is the same as you are following an exact indication. But the visualisation might change according to your way of perceving phenomenas. Best regards, Lodreu.
Pamo 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2005 Tashi Delek, is this visualisation done two or three dimensionally.... Two dimensionally sounds funny, three dimensionally, too, in a way..if i think of mount Meru for example ... smaller dimensions 3d.... ? The same I don't know how to think of it with the Refuge tree... Thank you for the answer. All the very best, pamo
