The Seven-Point Posture

Recommended Posts

Guest Felix

Tashi Delek!

I have a question about the position of legs in the seven-point posture of meditation.

I guess that the aim of the full vajra position is not just keeping the spine straight, because otherwise it would be unimportant which leg is above the other. I guess this could be connected also to the energy system of our bodies. Is this speculation valid or mistaken?

If it is valid for full vajra position, then it could be valid also for half-vajra position. In full vajra posture a man has his right leg above the left one. Which leg should be above in the half-vajra posture?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Respectfully,

Fellix

Tashi Delek,

if i remember well, you put just the first leg on the proper position, so it's the same as if you want to sit in the vajra position, but you stop when the first leg is on the right place. ;) (In half vajra position men would have the left leg above the right one, and women the right leg above the left one.)

All the very best,

chödrön
